Al Biles and GenJam

Al Biles and GenJam

On Demand

Al Biles and GenJam play jazz, which doesn’t sound terribly fringy. Well, the music may be straight-ahead, but the band is far-out. Al (a human trumpet player) and GenJam (the Genetic Jammer) improvise on tunes ranging from swing and bop to Latin and pop. Al and GenJam listen and reply to each other, but since GenJam is computer software that evolves its musical ideas in real time, it’s spontaneous, responsive, and definitely on the fringe.

Please note, like other fringe festivals around the world this year, our Virtual Fringe features open-access online shows that are not curated by Rochester Fringe. We strive to be an open platform, as performing artists have limited options during this unusual time. Show applications were reviewed to ensure appropriateness and alignment with Fringe's ideals of openness and inclusion.
