Accessible Approach/Entrance

• Venue is at ground level
• Route of travel is slip resistant and at least 36” wide
• Objects can be detected by person with visual disability using a cane
• Curbs have curb cuts at drop off (in front of Barrett Place on Gibbs Street)

Parking and Drop-Off Areas

• Garage entrance notes 6’10” (or 82”) vertical clearance – less than the 98” vertical clearance for lift-equipped vans
• Sign above garage entrance notes “Handicap spaces located on levels 1, 2 and 3”
• Accessible spaces are available in the East End Garage (downtown Rochester)
   
  • Swan Street entrance offers seven (7) accessible spaces
     
    • Closest to accessible entrance on route from Barrett Place to Gibbs Street
     
    • Drop off with accessible path for paratransit users – enter Swan Street from East Avenue or from Main Street
     
    • Spaces are 8’ wide with 5’ wide access aisles - two spaces have an 8’ wide access aisle
     
    • Access aisles for van accessible spaces marked with hash marks
     
    • Automatic door and ramp on the south side of garage to exit onto Swan Street – ramp length 110”/height 4”
     
• Two accessible spaces available on Gibbs Street

Entrance

• Double door main entrance has at least 32” of clear opening
• Interior door handle not higher than 48” but cannot be opened independently with closed fist or with 5 pounds or less pressure
• Threshold edge is accessible

Rooms an Spaces

• Aisles and pathways are at least 36” wide but might be crowded during performances
• 5-foot space for turning a wheelchair completely might be difficult when café is crowded
• Obstacles are cane-detectable in circulation paths through public areas

Seats, Tables, and Counters

• No fixed seating – chairs can be moved to allow rearranging
• Companion seating options are either chairs or benches at tables
• Counters for concessions/condiments are not accessible

Restrooms

• Restrooms located in the basement and are not accessible
• Please use the accessible portable toilets located at One Fringe Place (corner of Gibbs and Main Streets)
