Black Lives Matter

A Statement from the Board of Directors.

Rochester Fringe Festival stands in solidarity with those grieving and protesting in the wake of the senseless and horrific murders of Daniel Prude, George Floyd, and countless others whose names we do not know.

The 400-year-old cycle of violence against Black Americans must stop.

Black Lives Matter.

We stand with our Black artists and all people of color in their fight for equity, liberty, and justice. We condemn systemic racism, bigotry, and intolerance.  The arts have a responsibility to grapple with our failures as human beings and to shine a light into the darkest places and demand change.

We, as an organization, commit to intensify our efforts to provide platforms to Black artists and to amplify Black voices. We commit to confronting bias and racism within ourselves and our community and doing the crucial and hard work ahead. We are listening and we acknowledge that we have a lot to learn.
